TIPS FOR AVOIDING TAX INVESTIGATIONS

  • Employ the services of a qualified accountant
  • Always keep your book-keeping up to date
  • Never use the company cheque book to pay personal expenses
  • Never borrow money from your company
  • Never pay round sum expense allowances
  • Always ensure company and personal returns are submitted to the appropriate authority by the due date
  • Always be honest when recording expenses
  • Always ensure directors meetings at which dividends are voted are minuted
  • Never back date dividends
  • Never push income into a future year by delaying raising an invoice to your agent
  • Do not ignore IR35
